WHAT IS IT: Ways to Begin are dance classes. Each class is based on the principles and techniques of Skinner Releasing Technique.
And this special edition in the form of two days workshop will be held by two facilitators: Cleo Tabakian and Ayse Orhon. This transformative dance technique can be also considered as a contemplative meditation in movement. Introducing very specific practices in every class, we’ll discover new ways of moving, seeing, of breathing. The workshop will be held in English
HOW IS IT: There is no preparation for these classes. You start from wherever you are that day, that moment. What you need is comfy and warm clothes and a bottle of water.
WHERE IS IT: The worksop is at Theaterhaus Berlin Mitte. Check the calendar here. If you cannot see the calendar, or you need more information please contact us. Let us know in advance if you can’t make it to the class you booked.
WHEN IS IT: Arrival Friday 14:45, Saturday 09:45
Donation: This special edition is a gathering and practice. We accept donations to cover the travel expenses for our teacher.
Cléo Tabakian is a dance artist, living in Marseille, France. She graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Paris in 2014 and from the Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London in 2018.
Her drawings provide new visions of the physical self. In her book in progress: Movement Speculation, they are combined with an epical poem and compose what she calls an: Anatomy of Transformation. She teaches contemporary dance to children and adults regularly in different contexts.
Cleo will be a Skinner Releasing Technique certified teacher in August 2024. She is a strong advocate of the pedagogy -especially in France. With Ana Stegnar and Bettina Neuhaus, she is working on the creation and publication of a booklet about SRT in French.
Ayşe Orhon’s education and practice in dance is cultivated by a variety of dance techniques within Western dance tradition. Since 1997 she is informed by a wide range of somatic practices from Feldenkreis to Authentic Movement, from Body Mind Centering to Shiatsu to mention a few including Skinner Releasing Technique.
After a long pause in her teaching practice in dance, she has started teaching again with this powerful technique, growing together, free, resilient and responsible.
